The Education Internship with the Guthrie Theater, a national center for arts and education, is an opportunity for early career arts administrators to develop their abilities. The intern will learn skills necessary for success in an arts education or arts administration career. This internship offers the chance to learn to coordinate arts educational programming in a nationally recognized theater.
The Education Office Intern will assist the Education Manager and Education Director with the administration of innovative theater-based education programs and will assist teaching artists in an administrative capacity. The Guthrie Education Department offers highly professional programming for youth and adults, corporations, school groups, educators, the community and more.
Duties will include providing administrative support to the Education Department including: responding to prospective students' inquiries; assisting with logistics for adult community classes; communicating with teaching artists regarding logistics; providing support with corporate programming; assisting with the implementation of Class by Requests both on and offsite; participating in departmental staff meetings.
The ideal candidate is a college sophomore or above who is studying Education, Arts Administration, or Theater, or a related field or recent college graduates. Seeking candidates with the following skills: excellent interpersonal skills, organized, efficient, personable, works well in a fast-paced setting, able to multi-task, and adaptable to change. Computer skills: Microsoft Office and Internet research skills.
The time commitment is February 10 to May 30, 2014. Hours can be flexible between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday and will average 20 - 30 hours per week.
